the perfect you

Aside from the the physical practice, why do people feel like yoga is hard? I would argue that it is because we are either trying to be perfect or competing to be better than someone else.  It is how we are programmed, to be the best!  This doesn't work in yoga simply because of the fundamental principles. Yoga is about being your "perfect" self in the present moment.  This would mean not comparing yourself to anyone else, even a different version of yourself.  Some principles that will help keep you on track are non judgment and non violence. Yes, non violence towards yourself. We know mental abuse will have an extreme affect on your life.  Remember the time where someone said something to you in the morning and it ruined your entire day? I call that "verbal violence" but we'll talk more about that later. If one negative thought can ruin your day, imagine how it would feel to hear a bunch of positive thoughts throughout the day? Once you are in a place where you know you are great and you're feeling good mentally, it will help your practice develop. You will then realize just how perfect you are!!

I love this! It's so hard for me to say positive things to myself. Definitely something to work on.
